About The University of World Economy and Diplomacy

The University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) was established upon the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan on September 23, 1992, as the first higher educational institution of independent Uzbekistan. There are three professional schools at UWED: International Economic Relations, International Law, and International Relations. At different times, the University was visited by the Presidents of many foreign countries (President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, President of the Republic of Korea Lee Myung-bak, President of the Republic of Latvia Valdis Zatlers), Foreign Ministers (Russia - S. Lavrov, Japan - J. Kawaguchi) and US State Secretaries (Madeleine Albright, Hillary Clinton), Secretaries–General of international organizations (Lord John Robertson, NATO, Frederico Mayor and Kōichirō Matsuura , UNESCO), as well as eminent international scholars and experts (Zbigniew Brzezinski, Viktor Sadovnichy, Frederick Starr etc.) UWED cooperates with various educational institutions of the European Union, Great Britain, Japan, Korea, China and other countries within the framework of bilateral cooperation agreements and scientific and educational programs.
