University of Washington Professional Staff Organization

The Professional Staff Organization (PSO) highlights the essential role of, enriches the experience of, and serves as a resource for professional staff at the University of Washington. Founded in 1990, we are a non-profit and the voice that advocates for the over 10,000 professional staff employed by the UW. All UW Professional Staff are apart of PSO! At the UW, there are two main categories of staff - professional and classified staff. Classified staff are largely unionized while professional are not. As a result, PSO serves an essential role of enriching the experience of professional staff. A few highlights of our work: • PSO voted against a proposed increase in U-PASS costs for staff and advocated for greater subsidies • PSO focused on childcare advancement including putting together a short-term Paid Family Leave Advisory Committee • PSO offers scholarships for professional development • PSO board elections are every spring quarter • PSO offers events for pro staff (DEI Forum, Spring Celebration)
