Veterinary Health Research Centers (VHRCs) specialize in conducting clinical trials for companion animals with spontaneous naturally occurring diseases. One Health--comparative--conditions currently under VHRC study include cognitive decline in dogs and cats, cancer, allergic dermatitis, osteoarthritis, and organ failure. Many human and animal disease conditions share analogous etiology, pathogenesis, histology, environmental and carcinogen exposures as well as clinical presentation. The VHRC conducts pre-IND, pre-INAD, and POC studies for products, medicines, and therapies that can benefit both animals and humans.
