Vala Heritage

Three design students ended up taking a course called creative collaborations, hoping they can save the world by creating an application. Soon enough, they realised this course is all about collaborating with the artisans and is directed towards handicrafts, we decided to redirect our course from saving the earth to saving the handicraft industry after going through tons of articles about the gradual demise of the handicraft industry. On arrival to Kutch, we realised that the Artisans of Kutch, aren't really in need of saving; but they are truly empowered, independent designers, small entrepreneurs operating under their own labels. It was magnificent to watch them design according to the markets they were targetting. We went till the root of the concept and found that Somaiya Kala Vidya was responsible for this pleasant change of events. Soon enough we realised that our web-application is going to be designed in order to connect these Artisan Designers of Kutch with a suitable Global audience while providing the consumers with an authentic cultural shopping experience as well as the opportunity to travel to Kutch and attend a workshop to learn and experience the rich cultural crafts in person. Vala Heritage is aiming towards its goal of sustainability and empowerment. Vala Heritage promotes Artisan Designers and their intricate craft to reach a suitable audience who believe in buying not just a product but a story. Vala Heritage provides a platform for customers to experience India's rich traditional culture and owning a part of it. Vala heritage is for a modern Indian, a more informed Indian and a proud Indian “Live life share stories."
