Valence House is the local history museum and archive for the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. Located in a medieval moated manor house, the collections detail the amazingly rich and diverse history of Barking and Dagenham from pre-history through to modern day.
Our aim is to raise pride in the borough. As the community hub for local history and heritage, the story of the past is brought to life in a program of annual events, activities and engagement opportunities aimed at our diverse audience.
Our award winning education service brings the past alive for the borough's youngest residents via interactive fun-filled discovery sessions ranging from the dinosaurs to famous local residents.
