The term Value Innovation was first used by W Chan Kim and Renée Mauborgne in 1997 and is the platform on which their “best selling” book Blue Ocean Strategy is based. During the period 1999-2004, 40 member of companies of the Industrial Research Institute www.iriweb.org developed the first Innovation Process. Since 2005 the VIP has been used and improved by many large and small companies in North America and Europe.
The VIP is explained in the book Value Innovation Works published in 2012 and co-authored by Dick Lee. The book is a “How To Do It” Guide and available on Amazon.com.
