Valuing Minds

Valuing Minds is an independent Educational Psychology consultancy working with children and young people (aged 0 - 25), their families and schools or colleges to make positive changes to their education and wellbeing. Parents come to Valuing Minds with a variety of questions. For example, they may want help understanding why their child’s learning or behaviour is a concern, support to ensure their gifted & talented child is able to reach their full potential or help understanding a diagnosis that another professional has made. Sometimes, they come to us for reassurance that their child is “OK”, help identifying a problem or condition or for teaching techniques and strategies that can help their child. Equally, parents contact us for support with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) application, review or tribunal or to conduct an assessment for access arrangements for GCSE or A level exams. At a time when educational institutions are having to do more with less, there is growing concern about mental health among the young and teacher stress, recruitment and retention are major issues, Valuing Minds can provide schools with much needed support by giving advice, guidance, interventions and/or training. From work with individual students to in-service training for staff, and from senior leadership teambuilding and mentoring to change management in schools, Valuing Minds' psychological perspective and interventions can enable schools and colleges to face these challenges. At Valuing Minds, we believe in putting children and young people at the heart of everything we do, whether that is conducting an assessment of a young person, contributing to the review of an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) or enabling a school management team to work more effectively together, so that the children in that school benefit from a clear strategy and an improved educational experience.
