Vancity Buzz

Launched June 1, 2016, Daily Hive is the evolution of Vancity Buzz and Calgary Buzz, with newsrooms now in Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, and Calgary. In 2008, Vancity Buzz was created in a South Vancouver basement by two childhood friends. The concept was to provide compelling Vancouver-centric content that would result in connecting Vancouverites to their city. Growth was slow at first, but persistence was key. Years of progress paired with dedication to social media enabled our expansion into the Calgary market in 2015. Since January 2016, our Vancouver and Calgary sites have been averaging a total of over 7.5 million page views per month. This has made us the largest digital-only publication in Western Canada. Which brings us to now. As we expand across Canada adding newsrooms in Toronto and Montreal, we are translating our experience in Vancouver and Calgary to provide millennials in other urban centres with a hyper-local digital content experience.
