Jana Ireijo lives and works in Honolulu, Hawai’i. After graduating with a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa, she earned an MFA in Painting from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. Jana creates vanishing murals that illustrate the environmental impacts of climate change.
Her work also highlights issues of environmental and social justice. She uses mediums that tell their own stories, such as foraged wildfire charcoal, fresh and saltwater from local sources, and natural pigments gathered from where the art is created. These murals are temporary and eventually return to the earth with the elements.
