The VB Photographic Center is the first regional photographic center in the center of Kuopio, former home and photographic studio to the idyllic Polish artist Victor Barsokevitsch in the 19th century. The VB Photographic Center has been operating in Kuopio since 1987 and is run by the association of Victor Barsokevitsch -Seura, founded in 1982.
The VB Photo Center's mission is to promote the photographic culture especially in North Savo and Eastern Finland, but it also operates through its network of co-operation nationwide and even outside Finland's borders. The most important focus is on high-quality exhibition activities, in addition to which the center implements small events, lectures, seminars and workshops. The exhibition activity is year round and focuses mainly on Finnish photography, but also foreign production is present.
