Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a critical global health challenge as infections are increasingly difficult to treat due to resistant bacteria. P. aeruginosa is a World Health Organization priority pathogen associated with severe hospital-acquired infections with high levels of resistance. There is a global unmet need to improve the way we treat bacterial infections. Virulence factors are the weapon systems bacteria use to cause disease. Our small molecule specifically targets swarming, a key virulence factor of P. aeruginosa. This approach not only prevents infection from taking hold but works synergistically with antibiotics to enhance their efficacy in treating acute infections.
