Chicago is the third largest U.S. GDP, birthplace of the semiconductor, the consumer internet, and even Tesla’s original founder, and we will be home to the first commercializable quantum computer and the picks and shovels industries surrounding it. Unfortunately, we export most of the talent that builds these innovations and $9B in venture returns every decade by not backing our local visionaries with early stage capital. Velocity is building the first if it’s kind hyper regional strategy to simultaneously back pre-seed startups in our city and state’s most critical industries and the seed stage find managers likely to back them at the next stage. When we succeed at catalyzing the next generation of homegrown multi billion companies and the necessary capital stack to support them, we’ll create tens of thousands of jobs, billions in returns for local investors, and ensure the civic and economic leadership required for Chicago & Il’s future prosperity.
