VERMIFAM LTD: Bugesera Worm Farm and Vermicomposting Production Initiative

VERMIFARM aims to enhance environmentally friendly agriculture in Africa by using worms, to produce organic fertilizer. The company started in the year 2021 and is led by a team of youths including an experienced nematologist as operational manager. In the first year, the company trained 20 refugees (youths) on the collection of food wastes, incubation with worms, and producing and packing organic fertilizer to attain sustainable production .The company currently has 4 full-time working staff, 2 part-time officers, and wage workers employed from time to time in production units and distribution of the produced quality fertilizers. Through our work, the business trained 120 refugees and smallholder farmers, received recognition from the Rwanda Farmer Association (RFA), and was announced as the Winner of the RAIN Challenge Competition 2023 organized by the Global Resilience Partnerships (GRP)
