Verocel was founded in 1999 by George Romanski and James Chelini.
In 2024, Verocel was acquired by Wisk Aero, a leading Advanced Air Mobility company developing the first autonomous, electric vertical takeoff and landing air taxi in the U.S.
While working at another corporation that was trying to develop and verify its own safety critical software, George and Jim realized that for many companies, development and verification need to be independent entities. As a separate software verification service, Verocel could provide complete verification support, gap analysis, and support to augment existing materials, as well as independent testing services.

Verocel stays at the forefront of verification issues by chairing and belonging to a number of committees and standards bodies. By participating in these organizations, Verocel helps influence the constantly-evolving safety standards, is aware of proposed changes even before they are official, and thus can continually adapt to remain compliant with the various standards and requirements.
Where we are now.
With our acquisition by Wisk Aero, we are starting a new adventure that will allow us to bring our knowledge, skills, tools, and excitement to bear on a more focused goal, to certify Wisk Aero Generation 6 autonomous, electric air taxi. Furthermore, our joining Wisk Aero creates an enduring capability at Wisk that supports both the certification of the Generation 6 aircraft as well as future software developments at The Boeing Company.
