Viatorian Community

Viatorian Community company information, Employees & Contact Information

The Viatorian Community was founded by Venerable Louis Querbes in France in the 1830s, to address the underserved young people of rural parishes. Fr. Querbes wanted to establish the community in order to teach the faith and serve in prayer and liturgy. Today, our professed brothers and priests, who comprise the congregation of the Clerics of St. Viator, share in ministry and community with lay associates, women and men who commit to the charism and spirituality of the congregation. Fr. Querbes drew on the ministry of St. Viator, who was a lector, catechist, and model for youth, as well as the words of Jesus in the Gospel, "Let the children come to me," to focus the Viatorians on walking closely with youth and people who go underserved. Today in the US, this primarily means ministering in Catholic high schools, leading parishes, working for justice, especially with people in immigration and for environmental justice, and forming young people to become servant leaders in the Church and the world.
