VietMBA

VietMBA was founded in 2004 by Quang Nguyen (UW-Madison MBA'05) and Khoa Nguyen (Vanderbilt MBA'06). Quang and Khoa were friends since the time they joined USGuide, a mailing list that included current Vietnamese graduate students in the US, and aspiring applicants who wanted to go to the US to study (Quang and Khoa were USGuide admins). However, in the beginning, it was not an easy task as the number of Vietnamese people who had done MBA in the States was still very limited. Starting in 2005, there was a marked increase in the number of members as more and more people became interested in doing an MBA overseas. Moreover, members who graduated from the MBA programs came back and contributed their stories on their job hunting and working life experience in the US. There were new topics being opened and a great number of new members joining every day. In 2006, Personal Coaching Program, a tutoring program by forum members and for forum members, began for the first time. It turned out a success with seven participating members gaining MBA scholarships from the US schools. VietMBA has received a lot of mentions in Vietnam newspapers and news as a valuable source of first-hand MBA insights. Today, VietMBA sets itself apart from many other forums by the quality of discussions and strong ties amongst its members. A lot of members attributed their success in gaining admissions and scholarships, job offers as well as inspiration to the forum and its senior members. While the forum is well-known (and sometimes criticized) for its strict rules, the aim is to encourage members to be professional during discussions. VietMBA currently has more than ten thousand members with more than 600 active members who are studying and working in many countries besides the US. VietMBA prides itself on being the close-knit community whereby members know each other by names, and the spirit of discussions have and will continue to stay true with the organization's slogan "Truth well told".
