Two years ago, an ex chef decided to open his own pop up brand!! After working for four years in restaurants (including 3 Michelin Starred ones) in central London. He decided to do it for himself. For years he had dreamed of owning his own restaurant…. Not just a generic “burger or pizza one,” but a CARIBBEAN one. How many Caribbean restaurants are there in London he thought!!! And good ones that rely on good high quality food, and not just their drinks!!! But he had to be humble and start somewhere…
So that’s what he did…. Within two weeks, he quit his job, found a space and trialed his ideas. But how could he make it better? It wasn’t just about the food he realized, It was about the story. So he decided to better his brand with ethics and marketing skills. So he:
always spoke to his consumers in the first person;
he ONLY used local suppliers;
he ONLY used bio degradable packaging
and ONLY hired local apprentices.
And it was a success!!! Week after week his business grew and stayed it stayed in profit until his pop up contracted ended and he was forced to close. But in 4 months, he single handedly tuned an 8k investment into a 64k turnover and employed 15 people!!! Remarkable for someone who was only 20 years old at the time.
