OUR MISSION
To empower youth to end gender-based violence and discrimination through creating alternative and creative ways to voice their opinions, integrating them in the process of social development and creating a future which is just and equal for all.
Vikalp was registered in 2004 by a group of youth committed to creating a society free from gender-based violence and discrimination. They dreamt of an egalitarian society based on equity, peace and justice. “Vikalp” means an “alternative”, and Vikalp Sansthan aims to find and enable alternatives to existing social structures that are marked by discrimination, violence and unequal opportunities for women and girls. We are tackling issues at the root cause of gender inequality that persist in the society; and we believe in accomplishing this by using the democratic system already in place rather than investing in new parallel systems.
Our organization strongly believes in working with youth and creating a new generation of champions for change, and Vikalp has dedicated itself to articulate the needs and aspirations of youth with integrity, accountability and perseverance.
Since inception (2004) the sustainability, accountability and scalability has enabled Vikalp to consistently expand operations to include more districts.Vikalphas set the instance of expansion working in twelve districts across 510 villages in south and western part of Rajasthan so far through regular volunteers and as a result more than 12000 (child marriage) and 10000 girls are perusing higher education, more than 4500 domestic violence survivor women got c
