I’ve held many roles throughout my life. Some I enjoyed. Others? Eh, not so much. The most fulfilling roles I’ve held over the years were those that allowed me to help others. Being a mother to my children, a caregiver to my mother-in-law, working in human resources, working as an office assistant, being a retail assistant manager, and even after moving into the general manager position. My first business was a bargain shop. I wanted people that didn’t have much money to be able to afford nice, quality things. When a community member was in need after a disaster or was going through hard times, I couldn’t wait to donate whatever they needed. I didn’t do it to promote my business or to get a tax write off. I did it because I enjoyed the feeling of helping others.
It was a no brainer when I chose virtual assisting as a profession. I needed something flexible so I could be home with my children and still be available to care for my mother-in-law. Working from home was the best option and every at-home career I came across was call center customer service. I hate working in telephone customer service! Then I heard about virtual assisting, and it was like the career was created specifically for me! I could help small business owners and still work for myself, be at home with my family, do work I actually enjoy, plus I already had experience and the skillset to do the job. Long story short, I started The Virtual Chaos Manager and I absolutely LOVE the work I do every day!
