VIPLab - Visual Image Processing Laboratory

There is not enough knowledge or experimental data about how images are perceived by the visual system and how the visual preferences can be objectively assessed. The main objective of our interdisciplinary group is to contribute to the better understanding of how digital images are perceived by the human visual system through the acquisition of new experimental data and to represent this knowledge with computational models. The models will in turn be used to approach visual quality improvement/optimization in different image processing applications and tasks. The professionals who are part of the interdisciplinary group VIPLab have experience in vision science, color science, image processing, psychophysics, and a solid math foundation along with a strong experimental character. We are delighted to announce that VIP Lab's work continues as we have received funding to develop IMaLeVICS (Interpretable Machine Learning for Vision, Imaging and Color Sciences). We have two years ahead to continue improving our understanding of how the human visual system perceives digital images.
