VIVA PROJECT

VIVA is a pioneering project focused on developing advanced sensor technologies to enable a new class of camera-less eye-tracking systems. Our goal is to create systems that are lightweight, compact, power-efficient, fast (with a high sampling rate of approximately 1kHz), reliable, and highly accurate under various ambient conditions. By combining laser feedback interferometry (LFI) technology with meta optics, VIVA aims to develop a novel laser-based eye-tracking solution that are lightweight for all-day wearing comfort. Our 'Made in Europe' laser-based eye-tracking technology aims to overcome the limitations of traditional video-based oculography (VOG) and electro-oculography (EOG) systems. By eliminating the need for cameras, VIVA ensures enhanced privacy protection on personal and legal levels. This innovative approach promises a breakthrough in the use of all-day wearable eye-tracking devices for both industrial and consumer applications. VIVA strongly contributes to European societal goals and economic competitiveness in the fields of digitized and intelligent microelectronics, photonics, and micro-optics. The project is supported by the Chips Joint Undertaking (Chips JU) and its members, including top-up funding by Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, under grant agreement No. 101139942.
