VizAbility Pretoria Workshop for the Blind

Pretoria Workshop for the Blind t/a VizAbility ( previously DreamHouse) is a level 1 BBBEE, non-profit company founded in 1929 to provide employment to visually impaired and disabled members of society. The organization embarked on a business-orientated approach as opposed to a welfare-orientated approach. The ethos of creating employment, according to their restrictions, for people living with disabilities, is strictly adhered to. As an NPC, VizAbility strives to become financially self-sustainable. The manufacturing and contract packaging market was entered and has proven to be ideal for the employees: mentally, physically and financially. In 2003 VizAbility acquired a company which manufactures, packs and exports fertilizer sticks and has successfully managed this enterprise. This taxable company, The Greener Fertilizer Option (Pty) Ltd has VizAbility as its sole shareholder and exports to Europe and also supplies locally. VizAbility with its unique workforce offers manufacturing and packaging services to the broader market both locally and internationally. VizAbility received several awards for its achievements: 1. Certificate of excellence by the Department of Social Services and Population Development. 2. Certificate of Excellent Service by the South African National Council for the Blind. 3. "The best performing business in the category: Large Business" by Anglo American Zimele Fund. Our slogan is: SEEING THE UNSEEN, CREATING AN ENABLED WORKFORCE BY ENABLING PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES.
