Volare Spa operates (through its brands Volareweb.com and Air Europe) as a low cost airline from the Italian airport of Milan Malpensa to several destination in Europe. In April 2006, Volare SpA became a subsidiary of Alitalia. In 2007 Lorenzo Caporaletti (former CEO of Alitalia Express) has been appointed as CEO, leading a phase of network expansion. As of January 13th 2009, following the Alitalia Group restrucutring and its acquisition by CAI (Compagnia Aerea Italiana), Volare Spa merged into the newly formed Italian carrier.
