Voz das Comunidades

Voz das Comunidades is a non-governmental journalistic and social justice organization created and run by favela residents in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Its mission is to highlight systematically ignored social issues, enable democratic access to information and give voice to marginalized communities. For over 17 years, It has been a highly trusted source of news and information, and defender of human rights, in Rio's favelas. The Voz journal publishes daily local news to its website, mobile app and printed newspaper that is distributed in the favela communities in which it is present. The organization also runs programs focused on poverty alleviation, citizen engagement and human rights defense.
