The WA Organic and Isotope Geochemistry (WA-OIGC) Centre is an internationally-recognised group based at Curtin University, contributing to world-class research in the fields of organic and stable isotope geochemistry; palaeogenomics and geomicrobiology. Founded in 2007 by ARC Laureate Fellow and Australian Academy of Science Fellow, Professor Kliti Grice, the centre conducts research in both modern and ancient environments to deepen our understanding of climatic trends, the evolution and recovery of life, and biochemical pathways. The WA-OIGC is a highly interdisciplinary group (spanning Chemistry, Biology, Geology, Agriculture, Environment, Medicine, Paleontology, Palynology, Microbiology disciplines) and is part of The Institute for Geoscience Research. Research in current priority areas includes: - Application of biomarkers (organic geochemistry) - Compound-specific isotope analysis (CSIA- C, H, N & S) - Paleogenomics (DNA, transcriptomics and metagenomics) - Geomicrobiology
