Indeed, our collaborative approach very much begins from within. We have over 50 years of experience in construction, founded in 1964 in north London, we have grown from what was originally a paving contractor working with local authorities, to what it is today – a multi-disciplined construction and civil engineering firm working across the South East. With a staff complement of 250 and an annual turnover of more than £42 million, Walker Construction is active across the built environment. Clients are wide-ranging, with projects undertaken in rail and infrastructure; for local authority water and highways departments; for the Ministry of Defence; for healthcare and education clients; and for housing and commercial property developers. Based in Ashford, our geographical presence in strengthened by our satellite offices in Buckinghamshire, Surrey and Folkestone. It is formed of three operating divisions: rail, construction and building. On the building side, Walker Construction has gained a solid reputation across a range of sectors: educational, healthcare, community facilities, industrial, retail and refurbishment projects. It works with clients in both the public and private sectors, under traditional contract, on a ‘design and build’ basis, or through works packages on major scheme and under local and central government frameworks. The company is adept at handling sensitive briefs, on schools for instance, where meticulous planning and strict controls must be applied to maintain the highest standards of health and safety – something Walker Construction sees as the utmost importance, regardless of sector.
