Created to aid citizen’s voices, West Africa Network for Peacebuilding – Sierra Leone is a well-established national network of peacebuilding civil society organizations including women’s groups and religious institutions committed to encourage, facilitate and mobilize local initiatives for peacebuilding, promotion of gender justice, conflict resolutions and transformation. WANEP Sierra Leone has a long standing experience within the peace sector in Sierra Leone implementing programmes including; national early warning and response systems which enhances the use of early warning to promote and enhance the quality and effectiveness of early response by key actors in Sierra Leone, women peace and security programme to further advance, broaden and strengthen meaningful participation in the political space and women’s inclusion on issues of governance and livelihoods and the youth peace and security programme which advances peace education and youth programmes to build the capacity of youth to participate in issues of peace and security. Beyond capacity building, WANEP- Sierra Leone has over the years contributed to increasing dialogue platforms and spaces for youth at local and national level to engage duty bearers and all stakeholders in inter-generational dialogues to address the concerns and contributions of the youth in peacebuilding.
