About Wardang Consultancy
Owner and Principal Consultant at Wardang Consultancy, Nathan Coleman, has been working with Indigenous communities for over fifteen years in urban, regional and remote areas of WA and NT. The word 'wardang' comes from the Nyoongar language in WA and means 'crow'. Much of Nathan's learning and experience in working with Aboriginal communities came from working with Ballardong and Yuat Nyoongar people in WA so the use of a Nyoongar word is a sign of respect to Nathan's teachers, peers and friends within the Nyoongar community. Nathan is the oldest of five brothers, born in Wadjuk Noongar country (near Perth, WA) and is married with two daughters and a son. The crow is significant to Nathan's family who has ancestral links to Cwmbran, Wales. The name 'Cwmbran' translates from Welsh to 'valley of the crow'. Wardang can help your community organisation establish and/or increase the quality of your engagement with Indigenous people in your region. We can help your organisation deliver meaningful services that incorporate Indigenous concepts of wellbeing, healing, leadership, discipline and decision making. Wardang can assist organisations to navigate a variety of cross-cultural pitfalls to provide a solid theoretical base for engagement with Indigenous communities. Wardang can also work directly with Indigenous communities alongside your organisation to develop healing programs to meet the specific needs of local Indigenous people. Wardang Consultancy has extensive experience working with Indigenous people in remote, regional and rural contexts with a significant emphasis on community development and Indigenous workforce development. This experience has been across a broad range of community service environments including homelessness services, alcohol and other drug withdrawal and treatment services, youth services, mental health services and counselling services.
