About Warwick Rail Challenge
The Warwick Rail Challenge is a University of Warwick project formed of seven multi discipline engineering Master’s students, supported by the Warwick Manufacturing Group. The project is aimed for the students to design and manufacture a fifth scale locomotive to compete in the IMechE Rail Challenge. The University of Warwick has been represented via this project since 2014 and this years current team will be working to improve and optimise the locomotive produced last year. The competition takes place in June at Stapleford Miniature Railway in Leicestershire. Warwick Rail’s Locomotive will be tested alongside other universities as well as companies from the rail industry in seven technical challenges aimed at tackling real industry problems. Each challenge will produce a single winner with an overall winner being crowned at the end of the competition. This competition hopes to not only support industry with technical development but also inspire a new generation into the rail industry.
