Center for Water Sanitation & Rehabilitation is a local NGO established in 2021 to support Government's efforts to accelerate inclusive access to improved and climate resilient WASH. The organisation is registered to operate in all parts of Zambia. Currently, the organisation is only present in Lusaka District, working in peri-urban areas identified to be most challenged with WASH access and highly vulnerable to climate change and climate change health risks like cholera. In addition, the organisation works with schools to promote WASH in schools and build learners capacities to co-create solutions and advocate for their WASH rights. For SBC, the organization's primary target are children and youths (from 3 years to 25 years). We engage them using different appropriate approaches such as "Kids workshops that target the 3yrs to 15years, WASH hackathon challenges that target the 8yrs old to 25yrs, Mentorships and guest lectures to create change makers). Our focus areas include; a) climate change adaptation and resilience building for WASH and livelihoods - supporting women and youth micro businesses to rebuild post an emergency , among other interventions b) Promoting children, youth & women engagement in WASH activities c) Solid waste management with an interest in valorizing waste while promoting sustainable waste management practices d) improving access to safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene behavior change by promoting point of collection and point of use water treatment and safe storage, sanitation hygiene, promoting use of toilet facilities, handwashing and food hygiene e) prevention of GBV and support for GBV survivors f) Research, Innovation and Knowledge Management Our Products: - Kids workshop package -Young WASH Voice Campaign Handbook and worksheet (Hackathon packages for schools and community youth) Our promising innovations - Climate-resilient Self irrigation System for backyard gardening/small scale farmers - Styrofoam Recycling
