Washoe CASA Program of the Second Judicial District Court is seeking volunteers ("CASAs") to serve as advocates for abused and neglected children cycling through the family court system. CASAs are appointed by the family court judges to provide the courts with critical information about their appointed child before they are placed in safe, stable, and permanent homes. Without the voice of a CASA, children in foster care face a much higher risk of returning to unsafe homes or languishing in long-term foster care. With only 100 CASA volunteers to serve more than 900 children in foster care in Washoe County, there is a tremendous need for more CASA volunteers.
Through fundraising, advocacy, and community outreach, Washoe CASA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting the Washoe CASA Program. Washoe CASA Foundation is also seeking new members to serve on this active board. And finally, Washoe CASA Foundation is seeking current CASA's to provide presentations to the community through the CASA Foundation Ambassador Program.
