Water Sommelier Union

The Water Sommelier Union e.V. (WSU) is an international professional association of all certified Water Sommeliers. It was founded in October 2011 in Solingen (Germany). Membership: Full members of the association must have completed a thorough training program with theoretical and practical examinations. The WSU also offers companies and institutions that would like to support the work and goals of the association ideally and financially the opportunity to become a sustaining member. Aims of the association: The WSU aims to support all aspects of water sommeliers, particularly with regard to further training. Regular events are held to exchange thoughts, experiences and ideas with other members. As an international professional association with more than 250 members from 28 countries, the WSU offers events and training seminars in both German and English. Sensory training home-based: various mineral kits are sent out at regular intervals for the sensory training of members, which can be tasted after appropriate dilution with water. Sensory assessments: On request, the WSU offers sensory assessments for bottlers of natural mineral water in order to provide a comprehensive, well-founded and positive description of their own mineral water and thus create opportunities for differentiation. These reports are prepared by the WSU's sensory committee with trained tasters who are experienced in describing natural mineral water.
