MEKOROT® Innovation - WaTech®

Mekorot is the national water company of Israel with almost 81 years of accumulated knowledge, capabilities and experience in the operation of complex and challenging water systems, including supplying water of diverse qualities from different and unique sources. Every year Mekorot supplies 1.6 billion cubic meters of water, to more than 8 million end users, and the company goal is to supply reliable and high quality water all over the country 24/7 Through the year. Therefore, one of the important aims of the company is to develop new advanced solutions and technologies that can address any challenges that will arise. In 2004 Mekorot established WaTech®, the center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation of water technologies. WaTech® enhance the finding and implementation of advanced solutions via cooperation and collaboration with different entities both the Israeli and international water arena. WaTech® cooperates with: startup and well-established companies, research institutes, universities, technological incubators, investors and venture capital funds. In addition, specific applied research is performed by professionals at Mekorot. Aside from promoting innovative activity and research, WaTech® is responsible for developing and registering patents as Mekorot's intellectual property, and applying information and database management for enriching the professional knowledge at the disposal of Mekorot's group.
