Water Resources North (WReN) is a collaborative group dedicated to long-term water resources planning across Yorkshire and the North East of England. Our core members—Northumbrian Water, Yorkshire Water, and Hartlepool Water—are joined by a wide range of stakeholders who share an interest in securing the region’s water future. We work closely with: - our customers, - water-dependent industries such as agriculture and energy, and - key stakeholders including environmental groups and regulators, to co-create a resilient, sustainable plan for managing water resources. We face a significant challenge: delivering on the ambitions of the National Framework for Water Resources. That means we must: - increase drought resilience, - improve environmental sustainability, - reduce long-term water use and leakage, - minimise reliance on drought permits and orders, and - boost water supply capacity. Together, we’re shaping a future where water is managed responsibly, equitably, and sustainably for generations to come.
