Our Mission at Watts 2 Boston is to provide young scholars from Watts, CA resources and access to education while helping them navigate their path to and through college.
Watts is a neighborhood in Southeast LA known for its high crime rates, poverty, and lack of educational opportunities. Covering just 2.2 square miles, Watts is home to 37,000 residents. With a median household income of just over $25,000, many live well below the poverty line and only 3% of residents have a Bachelor's degree. Students in Watts face significant barriers to academic success such as limited access to quality education, gang violence, and family instability.
