Hancock Student Leadership Program at Western Connecticut State University

The Hancock Student Leadership Program (HSLP) at Western Connecticut State University (WestConn) is a leadership development initiative to cultivate transformative and innovative leaders. Through immersive experiential learning, mentorship, and field experiences, HSLP equips students with the skills and confidence to inspire, motivate, and influence others in diverse professional and community settings. Students engage in hands-on leadership projects, cooperative internships, and structured mentorship while developing communication, leadership, resilience, ethical decision-making, and critical thinking skills. The program fosters collaboration with industry leaders across business, education, healthcare, and nonprofit sectors, providing participants with real-world exposure. HSLP is generously funded by an endowment from Mr. and Mrs. W. Jason Hancock, ensuring participants receive the financial support and resources necessary to maximize their leadership potential.
