8 minutes and 46 seconds, is how long George Floyd was held down with a knee on his neck by a police officer on May 25th, 2020 in Minneapolis, who ultimately took his life. This horrific murder was showcased for the world to see and ripped off the scab of racism that has been ignored every day in America. American citizens of all races demand a fight against those who took an oath to uphold the law. Before they were asking for change and equality, but now there is a demand and refusal to settle for anything less as a community. We have found it necessary to help ourselves protect and rebuild with the hopes that the government will join us 20 days after his brother's public execution. Terrence Floyd started the We Are Floyd Foundation, established on June 15th 2020. The We Are Floyd Organization has been dedicated to serving the community through leadership and service based in New York City. The organization held several events like the mobile music festival, give backs, several peaceful marches and protests with different community leaders and elected officials; these events consistent of giveaways, meaningful speeches and most importantly giving the community hope. We Are Floyd Foundation also believes in supporting the equity of local businesses for the cultural advancement of communities. Our other services are aimed to help minorities dealing with mental health, poverty, police brutality and social injustice.
