We Are Frieda CIC

We Are Frieda is a specialist domestic and sexual violence and abuse training and consultancy service. We were founded to integrate practical service delivery, assessment and support with therapeutic person-centred, trauma-informed and intersectional practice. Our mission is to deliver services to and in support of victim-survivors, children and young people in a client-led, holistic and strength-based way. Our ethos is that intersectionality should always be at the core of every service offered by all organisations and within all services. We teach this, train this and practice this. Our services and support centres around highlighting and understanding the role of trauma in experiences of domestic abuse and sexual violence to end stigma, shame and blame. Our practice is built on the identified need for systems change and reformation of practice, aiming to end experiences of secondary abuse and trauma for victim-survivors accessing support by increasing cultural competency and cultural literacy. We advocate for creating a space where clients come to experience a place of safety, develop trust in professionals as well as the systems in place to support them. We work and advocate against attitudes, beliefs, systems and practices that are rooted in systemic inequality, misogyny, oppression, discrimination, prejudice, and victim blaming. Our practice works to destabilise perpetration, hold perpetrators to account and inspire others to do the same whilst ensuring the physical and emotional safety of the clients we support.
