Overview
The We Card Program, Inc. is a national non-profit organization serving the nation's retailers of tobacco, alcohol, e-cigarettes, vapor products and other age-restricted products. Individual retail establishments as well as large retail chains utilize We Card's educational and training services for their compliance efforts with federal, state and local laws on preventing age-restricted product sales to minors.
History
In 1995, a group of like-minded organizations came together to create the We Card Program to help retailers prevent the underage sale of tobacco. Over the years, what began as a small training and education program grew into a nationwide effort to prevent underage tobacco, e-cigarette and age-restricted product sales. Twenty-eight years later, the We Card program is widely accepted across the country as the premier tobacco and age-restricted product training and education program. Working with retailers, trade associations, government officials, community groups and others in order to provide tools and training to retailers large and small.
Programs
We Card provides a comprehensive array of responsible retailing of age-restricted products services for retailers, including:
eLearning Center: Training courses for manager and frontline sales
associates — available online with We Card’s training management
portal or licensed to retailers with their own learning management
systems.
Online Store: In-Store training and education materials — from age
calculation tools and training materials to awareness raising in-store
signage.
ID Check-Up: A monthly mystery shopping service to check if store
employees are “carding” for age-restricted products (tobacco, alcohol,
and e-cigarettes and vaping products.)
Resource Center: Federal and state law and FDA regulation
summaries, We Card’s Guide to Best Practices and other compliance
tools and content for retailers.
