Wearsos is a social enterprise that transforms retired airline seats from Southwest Airlines® Repurpose with Purpose Program Global Sustainability initiative into high-end bags and accessories, while empowering and educating women in the rural community of Turrialba, Costa Rica. Our name, Wearsos, symbolizes the fusion of "wear" and "sostenibilidad," the Spanish word for sustainability, embodying our core mission.
Wearsos is guided by three key principles:
Waste Reduction: We're conscious of fashion's environmental impact and take strides to minimize it. By repurposing retired airline seat leather, we divert tons of material from landfills, promoting a circular economy.
Rural Economic Activation: In Turrialba, Costa Rica, we provide meaningful employment to women artisans, catalyzing economic growth and community empowerment through fair work opportunities.
Promoting Educational Spaces: Equipping women with leatherworking and entrepreneurship skills, we're enhancing individual lives and supporting educational initiatives that foster innovation and self-sufficiency.
