WeGo is a novel, normative play robotics program that utilizes telepresence technology to provide children in hospitals with live, virtual tours of museums and cultural attractions. WeGo currently maintains operating partnerships with four venues (The National Aquarium, The Maryland Science Center, The Spy Museum, and Baltimore Center Stage (BCS) and 12 hospitals (Johns Hopkins Children's Center, the University of Maryland Children's Hospital, Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital, Kennedy Krieger Institute, Johns Hopkins Medicine, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, Nemours Children’s Health System, University of Iowa Children’s Hospital, Huntsville Hospital, INOVA Children’s Hospital, Helen Devos Children’s Hospital, New York University Langone Medical Center). We are also piloting programming at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. Our core technology revolves around the VGo (Cambridge, MA) telepresence robot and its software application for live, interactive virtual tours.
