Widows Encouragement & HIV/AIDS Foundation is a non-governmental organization based in Arusha, Tanzania. We were founded in 2016 by Theresia Mollel and Sylvia George, two sisters with a passion for empowering those affected by HIV/AIDS to cultivate better lives for themselves and their families.
At WEHAF, we have made it our goal to mobilize, motivate, and advocate for widows, children, and HIV/AIDS victims in the areas of health, social justice, and economic empowerment. We hope to create opportunities for these vulnerable groups to gain confidence, develop personally and professionally, and learn how to earn their own livelihood. We believe in providing a hand up, not a hand out.
Currently, WEHAF is working with a group of 100 women in the Arusha region. We invest our funds in providing entrepreneurship training, counseling and psychological services, and health education for these women and their communities. We are also involved in advocating and lobbying to change laws and policies that affect the rights of vulnerable widows and children in Tanzania.
