Weingart East Los Angeles YMCA

For over 110 years, the Weingart East Los Angeles (WELA) YMCA has been the epicenter of Boyle Heights and East Los Angeles communities. Our commitment to Social Responsibility, Teen Civic Engagement, Education, Healthy Living, Sports Equity, and Food Security has made a lasting impact on the Los Angeles community. Faced by the Covid-19, our dedication to serving the community grew even stronger. Since the start of the pandemic, our WELA YMCA has worked tirelessly to deliver: • More than 6 million pounds of food to families in need • Facilitated over $2 million in rent relief to ensure families could remain housed amidst the hardships of the pandemic • Spearheaded learning recovery programs for over 450 young students. • Continued Youth Institute Program fostering Digital Media & Film for underserved youth. • Continued Youth & Government Leadership Program by modeling California's legislature and courts. • Girls in Golf Leadership preparing Girls for the Green or Board Room or any space of their choosing via Latina Mentors
