Welcome Home is a nonprofit coalition of individuals, businesses and organizations committed to proactively making meaningful changes and improvements in the public policy arena that allow for significant growth in the starter housing market for families, first-time home buyers and future Nebraskans. Mission: The Welcome Home coalition is a nonprofit trade association of individuals, businesses and organizations committed to proactively making meaningful changes and improvements in the public policy arena that allow for significant growth in the starter housing market for families, first-time home buyers and future Nebraskans. Its focus will be to introduce and improve regulations and policies that impact the starter home buying market for Families, First Time Home Buyers and Future Nebraskans. Elected officials and regulators don’t always understand or appreciate the ramifications of the decisions they make. We know that every time the cost of a starter home increases by just a few thousand dollars, thousands of families are priced out of the housing market. Veterans, teachers, nurses, police officers, and entrepreneurs are prohibited from experiencing the American dream. Each year the membership will determine the policies they want to impact the following year. Those goals may include legislation that addresses: 1. Zoning regulations; 2. Approval timelines; 3. Standardizing electrical, plumbing and other codes; 4. Partnering with public power to improve efficiency of accessing their network; and 5. Encouraging workforce development and young people to learn a trade
