West Yorkshire Joint Services – WYJS – is provided by a Joint Committee of Councillors from the five District Councils within West Yorkshire which are Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield.
We provide a range of statutory and commercial services most notably trading standards, archives, archaeology, ecology along with a strong commercial focus provided by a materials testing service, analytical services, calibration services and archaeological services.
Our services are funded by the five councils on a pro rata basis based on population and also through self-generated income. The former is set to continue to decrease so we are striving to increase the latter to ensure that WYJS can continue to deliver services to meet the needs of people, organisations and businesses in West Yorkshire.
