The Wharton Journal-Spectator is a semi-weekly newspaper, published on Wednesdays and Saturdays, serving Wharton, East Bernard, Boling, Iago, Hungerford, Lane City, Glen Flora, Spanish Camp and Egypt in Wharton County. The Journal-Spectator also publishes a sister newspaper, the East Bernard Express, serving East Bernard. The East Bernard newspaper is published once a week on Thursdays. The two newspapers, along with a third newspaper in the group, the El Campo Leader-News — serving El Campo and the west side of Wharton County — are owned by Wharton County Newspapers Inc.
