Whistlefish design, produce and sell unique contemporary and traditional art, greetings cards, accessories, and gifts through a number of retail shops in the South West including an ever-expanding online shop at Whistlefish.com. The company was founded by artist Lyn Thompson. In 1995 Lyn's cards were a hit at craft fairs far and wide, she applied for a Princes Trust loan - Milkwood Publishing was born! The first Whistlefish Gallery opened in St. Ives in 1997, we now have a total of 12 galleries today. As well as having ‘in house’ talent, Whistlefish also collaborates with a selection of talented handpicked artists who are renowned both at local and international level. Whistlefish are passionate about the quality of the art and products created, utilising the best raw materials and sustainable production methods. Fundamental to the success of the business has been the incredible collection of artists and designers that produce the artwork and designs that adorn our products. Over the years we have developed exceptionally strong relationships with these artists and designers, while also continuing to develop our own incredibly talented in-house design team. Using our extensive industry experience combined with our exhaustive list of contacts, Milkwood is branching out with one simple goal, to link fabulous creative artwork to adept clients with an effectiveness and clarity never seen before in the industry. Launching in 2018, Milkwood Art Licensing aims to develop into the market-leading art licensing agency based in the UK. Focussing on our core sectors, we will become the first place manufacturers come to find the perfect image for their products. We will build a truly unique catalogue of images, showcasing a collection of the best artists, illustrators & designers in the UK and beyond.
