White Tail is a strategy and transformation consultancy, specialising in the use of insight and data in the health and care sector. We seek to work directly and openly with clients to take a fresh approach to issues, build relationships, develop a clear strategic vision, and design new solutions to make the most effective use of limited resources. We offer policy expertise, analytical rigour and creative thinking, and are particularly passionate about supporting services to understand the diverse needs and experiences of their local populations. Our areas of expertise include user experience, integration of services, Population Health Management, data and analytics, behavioural insights, policy and strategy research and insight, and performance assessment and metrics. We have considerable experience and expertise in engaging with senior leaders in the health and care system. White Tail was founded by Chris Branson, a healthcare strategy and insight expert, who was trained in research methods at Ipsos UK before spending nine years in policy positions in the NHS. Until April 2023 he was Head of System Development at NHS England, where he led work on a new national Integrated Care Experience Survey, supported ICSs to develop their Population Health Management capability, and developed and disseminated guidance on building an ICS Intelligence Function, which established a vision for the local use of data, analytics and qualitative insights in the health and care system. Earlier roles included overseeing the procurement and administration of the GP Patient Survey.
