World Health Organization Indonesia

The World Health Organization (WHO) was founded on 7 April 1948. We work worldwide to promote health, keep the world safe, and serve the vulnerable. Our goal is to ensure that a billion more people have universal health coverage, protect a billion more people from health emergencies, and provide a further billion people with better health and well-being. Indonesia joined WHO on 23 May 1950 and is part of the WHO South-East Asia Region. The collaboration between WHO Indonesia and the Government of Indonesia (represented by the Ministry of Health) covers 5 categories (communicable and non-communicable diseases, promoting health through the life-course, development of health system particularly on policies, and preparedness, surveillance and response). On 1st January 2014 Indonesia launched a national health insurance programme called Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional (JKN). With Universal Health Coverage is one focus WHO endorses, WHO Country Office for Indonesia is supporting the country to reach full population coverage by 2019.
