These intrinsic components of the artistic process are the same skills we rely upon when we’re faced with a challenge, processing change, engaging in healing, or considering our future. The more opportunities we have to practice these skills in a safe and supportive environment, the deeper they are wired into our neurological pathways, increasing our access to them in moments of uncertainty, adversity, or heightened emotion.
Whole HeART Teaching demonstrates how to place the development of these skills at the center of creativity using methods that are trauma-informed, student-centered, and process-oriented. Whole HeART Teaching embodies a culture of affirmation, a learning environment built on predictability and consistency, lessons that promote student agency which are accessible to all learners, and which activate emotional literacy and self-advocacy.
Each month, the Whole HeART Teaching community provides patrons access to new curated materials like lesson plans, activities, handouts and other supplementary artifacts, as well as the opportunity to submit questions for personalized answers or to participate in individual lesson plan consultations.
When we authentically engage the hearts, minds, and experiences of our students, we can cultivate healing-centered, student-powered spaces.
